Aretha Franklin

March 25, 1942 ~ August 16, 2018 (age 76)


Musician. Ms. Franklin is known as the Queen of Soul for her highly-acclaimed talents as a singer, songwriter and pianist. Her musical legacy includes the hits “Respect”, “(You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman” and “I Say a Little Prayer” among many others. Ms. Franklin was the first female performer inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She has won 18 Grammy Awards, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and many other accolades during her lifetime. Ms. Franklin was named “Greatest Singer of All Time” by Rolling Stone Magazine as well as one of the publication’s “100 Greatest Artists ofAll Time”.  The Queen of Soul has also served as the voice of the civil rights movement.
